Call for papers: Nordic Arts & Health Research Network meeting on 30 September – 1 October 2025, Turku, Finland

The Nordic Arts & Health Research Network will organise their next live network meeting on 30 September – 1 October in Turku, Finland. The theme for the network meeting is Arts Supporting Mental Health and Wellbeing. The meeting is hosted by Turku University of Applied Sciences and organised in collaboration with the Culture and Health Platform project.

We warmly welcome all network members to participate in two exciting days with presentations, workshops and networking opportunities together with your Nordic Arts and Health colleagues. The network meeting is partly open also for the participants of the Culture and Health Forum. The event is free of charge for the network members.

The call for papers is now open (deadline: 31 May 2025). You are invited to submit contributions on “Arts Supporting Mental Health and Wellbeing” including but not limited to the following topics:

  • Artistic and cultural interventions contributing to mental health and wellbeing
  • Artistic processes supporting mental health and wellbeing
  • Mental health and wellbeing of cultural workers and artists working in the arts & health field
  • Artistic research programmes and innovation in the arts and health field
  • The spectrum between art therapies and arts and health: similarities, differences and beyond

 

Types of contributions:

  • Paper (20 min presentations)
  • Workshop (max 75 min)
  • Poster (A3)
  • PhD project (10 min)

 

Submission:

Abstracts should contain the name of the presenter(s), affiliation, contact information, type of contribution, title of the presentation, aims and key findings/reflections/topics explored. Please submit an abstract of your planned contribution with a maximum of 250 words by 31 May 2025 the latest: https://nettskjema.no/a/artsandhealth. Notifications of accepted contributions will be made by 15 June 2025.

About the venue:

The network meeting is organised at Arts Academy, Turku University of Applied Sciences (Linnankatu 54-60, 20100 Turku, Finland). Arts Academy is located by the Aura River, about 2 km from the city centre.
